Today sees the launch of Abus’ new flagship Airbreaker 2.0 road helmet and a couple of months ago we were extremely fortunate enough to be invited to the presentation event in Italy, to test the helmet on a few rides and to see the first of the helmets working their way through the production line. (see separate blog post)

The Airbreaker is one of Abus’ sponsored athletes helmets of choice so a massive overhaul of the helmet was out of the question, it was more of a case of a refinement to an already fantastic product.
The new helmet uses the same form as the gamechanger 2.0 so it will fit perfectly for those wearing Abus helmets already which is great as we’ve seen in recent years customers who have worn their chosen brand and when they’ve come to replace it the new helmet doesn’t fit. Often due to a change of factory or circumstances.
Abus recently purchased the factory in Italy where their road models are produced so can be assured of the quality from start to finish.
The Airbreaker 2.0 helmet specifically combines top level ventilation with proven aerodynamics to make a truly allround fantastic and comfortable helmet. Ventilation comes thanks to the ‘forced air cooling technology’ combining added and repositioned vents connected to seven internal deep structural channels to direct the airflow across the head and out of the rear via the carbon injected rear blade design. The front and central bridges have also been rotated forward slightly to aid aerodynamics and to drive more air across the head.
Further features include fidlock buckle, new material and repositioned straps, the addition of a forehead vent, brow vent and a liquid carbon skeleton system which adds strength, directs airflow and aids ventilation.
the helmet will be available in a range of colours and with the option of mips too.
A perfect fit can be assured by means of the zoom spin adjustment system which has multi fastening fits, along with a dial to ensure it’s held securely in place even on the most rugged terrain.
we have been using the Abus Airbreaker2.0 for a couple of months now both in the UK and abroad and can honestly say that it is one of the comfiest and most ventilated helmets I’ve worn and having suffered with a hot head even in UK weather this is a godsend.

In summary the new helmet is lighter, stronger, more aerodynamic and better vented and should definitely be on your shopping list if you’re looking for a new all round helmet which is super comfortable and well vented without compromising on aerodynamics .
we’ll be one of the first stores to receive the helmets and we’ll keep you updated as soon as they land in the next couple of weeks
